Proof of original certificate from The Lifesaving Society must be shown at the course. Those who hold Standard First Aid certificates from other agencies may not recertify their certificate on a Lifesaving Society recertification course. They must take a full course if they wish to be certified by the Lifesaving Society. Standard First Aid award holders may recertify their Lifesaving Society certification once. To renew SFA certifications subsequently, award holders must repeat the full SFA course. Thereafter, individuals may renew by alternating recertification and original courses. Standard First Aid awards expire 3 years from the date of original certification. You may not take a recertification course if your Standard First Aid is expired, and must take a full course instead.
